Requirements for under 25 year olds.
You must be 17 years old to get your P plate licence.
Hold any Australian states learners licence for 12 months.
Have 100 hours recorded in your logbook with a minimum of 10 night hours. The ACT logbook has a different coloured section for night hours.
Have all fields of the logbook completed and signed or Access Canberra will send you home to complete the book.
Complete the Hazard Perception Test.
Pass your driving test with your instructor through the ACT Competency system or a one-off test at the Access Canberra Gungahlin or Tuggeranong.
Over 25 years old.
Hold any Australian learner licence for 6 months.
Record 50 hours of driving in logbooks with a minimum of 5 night hours.
Old logbooks with recorded hours are included.
ACT Licence holders need to pass the online Hazzard perception test.
ACT Licence holders and Defence personnel pass the ACT logbook or the government driving test.
Interstate Licence holders need to attempt the driving test with Access Canberra after proving residency.
There are two ways to pass your driving test in ACT!
Your driving instructor can stamp your logbook over a series of driving lessons for you to obtain your P plate drivers licence.
The number of lessons is dependent on your skill level.
Skill level is relative to your hours of experience.
Learners with 100 hours recorded in their logbook can often pass in 6 or 7 hours of driving lessons.
Learner drivers with zero experience may need 20 hours of driving lessons.
Alternatively, you can book a driving test with Access Canberra but we suggest at least 1 driving lesson before spending your money on this test as the approximate first time pass rate is 50%
Record 120 hours in your logbook.
Including 20 night hours.
Complete the Hazard Perception Test.
Pass a driving test at Service NSW.
Instructor Craig provides lessons in North and Central Canberra.
Instructor Lynnette provides lessons in NSW and South Canberra.
Interstate Learners must provide evidence of living in ACT to be able to attempt a driving test in Gungahlin or Tuggeranong.
ADFA Defence ID card holders can complete the ACT logbook. Ask me how.
Overseas drivers must complete the ACT pre learner course and knowledge test before attempting the driving test.
If you pass the driving test, you will be issued a full licence.
If you do not pass or if you take out a learners licence, You will progress to a P plate licence once passed.
Currently we don’t have a manual driving school car.
If you have your own manual car available. Then we can arrange times to complete logbook lessons in your manual car (North ACT only).
